I am family law attorney Shari McPhail, and for more than a decade, I have been helping people across West Virginia with all types of family law matters, including divorce, child custody and domestic violence. Helping Families Find Workable Solutions

As a trial lawyer, I advocate zealously for my clients in court. However, as an experienced mediator, I know that litigation is not always the answer. For some families, talking through their legal issues is a better solution than going to trial. Each case is unique, which is why I spend time getting to know my clients before we take action.

My approach to family law is to treat all parties with respect. It is a better way to reach an agreement that works for everyone. Even if we are battling in court, I will pursue your case diligently while maintaining honesty and integrity in my interactions with the opposition.

In addition to being a lawyer, I also teach seminars on family law for continuing legal education (CLE) classes for attorneys and paralegals.

My staff has been with me since I began practicing in Wheeling over 20 years ago. Together, we provide personal, responsive service to our clients. We understand that you may be facing a difficult time, and we are sensitive to your needs.

I am joined by attorneys Betsy Griffith and Madison Carroll. Betsy has practiced family law since 2007. Over her career, she has taken many family law cases to trial. She has also argued before the Supreme Court of Appeals in West Virginia. Betsy is approved as a family law mediator and a guardian ad litem. Madison has practiced family law in West Virginia since 2023.
